Rollover to see how Big Rig Power replaces your stock VGT to maximize engine performance.

What You Need To Know About Your VGT

Variable-Geometry Turbochargers (VGTs) were designed to allow for the aspect ratio (A:R) to be changed with the speed of the vehicle. Because of this, VGTs have a minimal amount of lag, can create more boost than a regular turbo at low speeds and are very efficient at higher engine speeds. Since 2006, VGTs have been used by Cummins with the intention of maximizing efficiencies in heavy trucks that use Engine Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems to lower emissions.

VGT Challenges

Although the technology behind VGTs has improved, the production vehicle VGTs are still far from perfect. The turbos materials corrode after years of use or become caked with exhaust particulates resulting in poor performance. Continuing to use a damaged VGT can cause your engine to be starved to the point of no return.

The Fix

Remove the VGT before it becomes a problem and replace it with a recommended aftermarket turbocharger, a more durable and a much more trustworthy method of creating boost.
